An amazing last word!
These are Bucaille’s closing notes of his 1976 National Academy of Medicine lecture. His belief in the Divine Source of the Qur’an overwhelms him risking banishment and exile from the scientific community.
“In view of the level of knowledge in Muhammad’s day, it is inconceivable that many of the statements In the Qur’an which are connected with science could have been the work of a man. It is, moreover, perfectly legitimate, not only to regard the Qur’an as the expression of a Revelation, but also to award it a very special place, on account of the guarantee of authenticity it provides and the presence in it of scientific statements which, when studied today, appear as a challenge to explanation in human terms”.

The Power of the preposition!
A major part of the Qur’an’s overwhelming power lies in its utmost and absolute linguistic precision. Every Arabic word matters where denotations and connotations form the main body of the Qur’anic structure.
In 1973 Dr. Bucaille had successfully completed his Arabic studies at the University of Paris. His newly acquired knowledge of Arabic led him to match his animal physiology information with two prepositions in verse 66, chapter 16:
In cattle there is indeed a sure lesson for you.
We give you to drink
of what is within their bellies–
‘produced’ alongside excretion and blood–
a pure milk,
‘pleasingly’ palatable to those who drink it.
‘of’ is one preposition and ‘alongside’ is another.

Qur’an in the Academy!
Amazing story!
Soon after publishing his first book; The Bible, the Qur’an and Science in summer of 1976, Dr. Bucaille took an unexpected turn! On November 9, 1976 he chose a controversial topic to present to the mostly irreligious or skeptic members of France’s prestigious National Academy of Medicine. And what a title: Physiological and Embryological Data in the Qur’an!
The well-known Gastroenterologist could not resist the temptation of declaring his ‘scientific findings’ in a 14 century-old book risking his stature as a scientist (I came across one patent under Bucaille-Sopoult in the Academy annals). Science by methodology is in sharp contrast to Religion’s authoritarianism. Who would, among his listeners, understand his discovery that the Qur’an is NOT just another holy book?!
This has been the first, and probably the last, time the word Qur’an is ever mentioned in the Academy!

Amazing finding!
For me for one! I always understood that the reference in verse 7, chapter 78 to:
and the mountains as pegs
means that every mountain has its own peg.
I was wrong! In an exclusive interview Geologist Dr. Farouk El Baz corrected my, and I believe most of other people’s, information. So did my guest in another exclusive interview, the New Scotland Yard Chief Inspector Colonel Richard Varley, the Exeter University Geography graduate who contributed to the topic.
The word ‘pegs’ has been the 4th Qur’anic word that led Varley to Islam.

He cast into the Earth anchoring mountains
‘to balance it’, so it does not sway
with you ‘upon it as it spins’;

What did the New Scotland Yard Chief Inspector say, and do?
When the skeptic Richard Varley happened to come across verse 30, chapter 21 in Yusuf Ali’s translation of the Qur’an, the content of this verse corresponded with his ‘reasoning’ faculty and his ‘scientific’ knowledge of cosmic physics. The Physics lover and Exeter University Geography graduate asked himself one question:
“Is it conceivable that a 14 century-old book denotes an accurate description of a physical phenomenon that only decades ago we could verify by scientific methods?”
